What to include

Please don’t attach your story unless we ask for it. If we do, you can send a copy with only the chapters needed to show the problem.

Common questions

Where are my stories saved?

Each story is a .writ10 file in the folder you chose when you created it. Recent stories are listed on the Writ10 home; hover one to see where it is. You can also use Open a story to find it in the Finder.

How do I go back to an earlier version?

Click the clock next to the story title, or choose Story › Time Machine (⇧⌘T). Pick a version to read it next to your current text and copy passages back, or restore the whole story to it; your current text is kept as a version first. Press ⌘S at any time to keep the current moment as a version.

I deleted a chapter by mistake.

Open the Trash at the bottom of the chapter list and click the arrow next to the chapter. It goes back to its place.

A save failed, or my story file is damaged.

Writ10 keeps timestamped safety copies on your Mac before it overwrites a story. Choose File › Show Backups to open them in the Finder, then open the copy you need. If that doesn’t help, write to us before making further changes.

How do I export my manuscript?

Choose File › Compile… (⌥⌘P) and pick Word, PDF, EPUB, RTF, Markdown or plain text. Your author name and the book language are in Writ10 › Settings (⌘,).

Which Macs does it run on?

Writ10 requires macOS 13 Ventura or later. The App Store page lists the current requirements.

I have a new Mac. Do I need to buy it again?

No. Sign in to the Mac App Store with the same Apple Account, open your account page and download Writ10 from your purchases. Move your .writ10 files as you would any document.

How do I ask for a refund?

Purchases are handled by Apple. Use Apple’s Report a Problem page, or let us know what went wrong so we can fix it.
